Just like a diamond needs a setting, and ambrosia comes in a bowl, these Gospels are contained between the Christ Hymns, which are after all very like the words of the Disciples themselves when they describe Jesus, and are the only verses which discuss Jesus at any length in all of the letters that follow. They tell us who He is, and what it is He did that makes Him so Holy.  In this, Colossians 1:15-20 and Phillipians 2:5-11 are special in all of scripture.

 

Widely recognised as hymns because they rhyme in the original Greek and have a different style to the letters in which they are recorded, these ancient songs were likely first sung by the Disciples.

 

Of them we too have made and continue to make anthems and melodies, they are our hope, they reveal the mystery of the absolute Goodness of God.
